| Koh Tao
Koh Tao is an island north of Ko Samui. It is only ok for
advanced kitesurfers as launching area are very small and cluttered
with rocks. Sailing far from beach only.

|
| Hua Hin
Pak Nam Pran beach is located 25km south of Hua Hin. This is a
wonderful spot, with shallow water, wide beach at low tide, good wind
(given for 15-25 knots) from November to march. It seems that
it's not crowed with tourist even though all you need is there along
the beach. Many resorts and guesthouses, restaurants and bars.
The perfect spot to practice buggy at low tide and kitesurf at high tide.
|
|
Khao Takiab Beach, (on the picture left) 10km south of HuaHin
presents the same advantages, but might be more crowded during the week
ends due to hotels and condos.
HuaHin beach itself isn't recommended as it is home of hundreds of tourists |

Phuket
During the high season, from November to March, Phuket gets steady
winds and sunny weather. Chalong bay and Rawai beach beach seems
to be good spots with wind being respectively on and side shore. Rawai
has also bigger chop allowing for big air. The northern side of
Chalong bay is however to be avoided as the 30 first meter are fully
covered by rocks.

Karon beach, on its middle offers a relatively safe launching
area. At high tide, like in many places in Thailand, the sea
becomes very deep at a couple of meters from the shore only.
At
low tide, the bottom of the sea is flatter. At rising tide, a
strong current is observed at Karon beach, as well as waves breaking on
the beach in low season but is OK in high season
A good contact in Phuket is Michael, the owner of Phuketsurf.com, the surfing school on Kata beach.
Dietmar Zawich mentioned Chalong beach as his favorite spot. (Meeting point: friendship- bungalows).
The Area is about 6 km long and 800m wide (empty beach). The Spot is
good 2 hours before and after High-tide, after that time a few rocks
(Watch wooden sticks!) can spoil your fins.
Phuket's tourist season is from November to February. |
|
|
| Koh Chang
Very nice beaches, especially White Sand Beach. Beaches are as
usual very narrow at high tide. The best beaches are the least
exposed to the wind. Not for beginner. |
|
Koh Larn The only beach available for launching is very crowded with tourist and speed boats.
|
| |
|
|
| Koh Mak
Koh Mak, located south of Koh Chang, may be considered. Wind
blows there from November to February. There is a windsurf shop
held by a nice Frenchie who may help you with his Zodiac should safety
boat be needed.

|
Rayong Ram Pung beach, home of Rayong's windsurf club, east of Rayong offers a
wide beach at low tide, suitable for kitesurfing, buggying, mountain
board,...low tides from April to July, really good when the wind blow
from south, the spot offers also some nice waves. Be careful, the
waves in Rayong are known to be dangerous for the swimmers. Going
south to Ban Pae, 30 km from Rayong, some nice beaches are to be found

|
| Pranburi and south
the east cost of the gulf of Siam offers long and beautiful beaches,
with wind blowing generally side shore.
There is plenty small islands close to shore, not yet used for mass
tourism. A lot of beautiful sceneries in the area. Works pretty well from November to March 15-25 Knots average.
|
|
Koh Pha Ngan
Wind blowing from December to March, nice spot at the Golden Light
resort, on Thong Sala Beach. Side shore wind, flat water, 15-20
knots. Mae haad - Koh Ma is a very nice place by N, NE,
NNE. Avoid Haad Rin if you don't want to have problems with the
local authorities. All the south coast of the island works from mid december to april and from June to september.
